Obituary of Maria Mercedes Toro

Maria Mercedes Toro Sanchez, 62, has passed away on February 11, 2021 at 2pm. She was known to most as Uly. She was born on June 17, 1958 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Manuel Sanchez Correa and Carmen Maria Bermudez Santiago. She was a long time resident of North Bergen, NJ before leaving her hometown of Santa Isabel, PR. She attended the University of Puerto Rico where she graduated. She married the late great Ismael Toro in 1975. They had been together for 46 years and had 3 sons. Uly loved to sing and dance. She was the life of the party and had such a contagious laugh. She was a wonderful lady, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by 9 sisters and 1 brother. Nieces and nephews. Her sons Ismael Toro, Jesus M. Toro, Carlos J. Toro. Her grandsons Jaylin I. Toro and Ariel J. Orozco. Her great grandson Izaiah A. Orozco and her goddaughter Katiuska Rivera. Viewing for Uly will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 4pm-7pm at Jorge Rivera Funeral Home 4543 John F Kennedy Blvd North Bergen, NJ 07047. She will be entombed Friday, February 19 2021 at 8am in the Fairview Mausoleum 501 Bergenwood Rd. Fairview, NJ 07022.
