Obituary of Maritza Teresa Batista

Maritza Teresa Batista (Hernandez, Misa) passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck NJ. She was born on October 9, 1953 in Camaguey, Cuba to the late Hector Hernandez and the late Rosa Rivero. She would then migrate with her family to the US and reside in Union CIty and West New York for most of her life before moving to Emerson, NJ. Maritza worked for many years in manufacturing at Duro Test Corporation where she met some of her most loved and treasured friends. Maritza loved to dance and was known to be the last to leave the dancefloor! She equally loved to create beautiful meals for her family and share quality time and traditions surrounded by her loved ones. Her greatest joy was becoming a mother to her beloved children and later she became “Ahh” and “Lali” to her precious grandchildren who she loved to spoil! Maritza had a smile that would light up a room and a heart of gold always willing to assist and make someone smile. She is survived by her beloved children, Hector Ramon Liriano and his wife Erika and Rosalexa Liriano-Rodriguez and her husband, Anthony, her grandchildren: Brittany Taylor, Anthony Michael, Gabriella Mia, Lexi Adriana, Hector Antonio, and Daniel Joseph, her brothers: Jorge, Camilo, Santos, Jesus, and Hector Hernandez, many uncles, aunts, and cousins in Key West, Florida, and many friends and extended family in New Jersey. Maritza is predeceased by her maternal grandparents Thomas and Angela Morales, her paternal grandparents Thomas and Lucia Hernandez, and her brother Juan Hernandez. Maritza nació el 9 de Octubre de 1953 en Camagüey, Cuba del fallecido Héctor Hernández y la fallecida Rosa Rivero. Luego emigraría con su familia a los EE. UU y residiría en Union City y West New York durante la mayor parte de su vida antes de mudarse a Emerson, Nueva Jersey. Maritza trabajó durante muchos años en la fabricación de Duro Test Corporation, donde conoció a algunos de sus amigos más queridos y preciados. ¡A Maritza le encantaba bailar y era conocida por ser la última en dejar la pista de baile! A ella también le encantaba crear comidas hermosas para su familia y compartir momentos de calidad y tradiciones rodeada de sus seres queridos. Su mayor alegría fue convertirse en madre de sus amados hijos y más tarde se convirtió en "Ahh" y "Lali" para sus preciosos nietos a quienes amaba mimar. Maritza tenía una sonrisa que iluminaba la habitación y un corazón de oro siempre dispuesta a ayudar y hacer sonreír a alguien. Le sobreviven sus amados hijos, Héctor Ramón Liriano y su esposa Erika y Rosalexa Liriano-Rodriguez y su esposo, Anthony, sus nietos: Brittany Taylor, Anthony Michael, Gabriella Mia, Lexi Adriana, Héctor Antonio y Daniel Joseph, sus queridos hermanos: Jorge, Camilo, Santos, Jesús y Héctor Hernández, muchos tíos, tías y primos en Key West, Florida, y muchos amigos y familiares en Nueva Jersey. Maritza fue precedida en la muerte por sus abuelos maternos Thomas y Ángela Morales y sus abuelos paternos Thomas y Lucía Hernández, y su hermano Juan Hernández.
