Reflecting on Zaverben Patel’s life – she was born in 1911 to Fulabhai and Chanchalben Patel. She married early and lost her husband at the age of 63. She was the beloved wife of Naranbhai Gokarbhai Patel who predeceased her in 1976. She was the devoted mother to eight children. She is survived by her son Dahyabhai, and daughters Vimlaben, Taraben, Jashodaben, and Harshaben. She is predeceased by her sons Jashbhai, Jayantibhai, and daughter Shardaben. She was a loving and devoted grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother of 18 children and their families. She has 84 descendants to date.
She was a loving homemaker who loved to cook good food for her family. She was a religious person who enjoyed reading on Hinduism, and sharing the knowledge with some of her grandchildren. She enjoyed socializing, and lit up when meeting people. She exuded a warm aura that left an impact on whomever she met. To date, we hear stories from people that met her, how she was a sweet, generous, and warm individual. She generously gave to those in need, and also took care of the birds and animals around her by feeding them. In her town in India, she donated food to those in need, and also fed the priests during the holi fasting months. In Hoboken, when she went to feed the birds, the pigeons would recognize her from her white sari, and follow her all the way to the park to their feeding spot. Zaverben has done tremendously for her family, including educating them, and teaching them good morals and grace.
